Frequently Asked Questionss
How does hypnosis feel?
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind. When the hypnotherapist induces a trance state, it means is that you are taken into a very deep level of relaxation. We have four brainwaves:
Frequency band | Frequency | Brain states |
Beta (β) | 12–35 Hz | Anxiety dominant, active, external attention, relaxed |
Alpha (α) | 8–12 Hz | Very relaxed, passive attention |
Theta (θ) | 4–8 Hz | Deeply relaxed, inward focused |
Delta (δ) | 0.5–4 Hz | Sleep |
Beta is considered your awake state, which you use to function throughout your day. The hypnotherapist takes you to Alpha or Theta state of mind. You are aware of your surroundings, although in Theta state you may dip down where it feels as if you didn’t hear what the hypnotherapist said.
If you have ever driven somewhere, not knowing how you got there when you get to the destination, this is considered a trance state, which could be Alpha or Theta.
Will the hypnotherapist be able to brainwash me?
My intention for all of my sessions are for your healing and I have only the pure intention of only that. I have no ill intent toward my clients.
Will I lose control? You will always maintain control in your sessions. I always go through what you can expect from your session as part of the consultation
Will I get stuck in hypnosis or trance state?
Getting stuck in hypnosis is not possible. Although you may have instances where you stay relaxed for a few days after your session, i.e., a natural trance state, you cannot get stuck in this state. You can open your eyes at any time during your session.
What if I fall asleep?
Sometimes a very deep trance state can feel like you have fallen asleep. Clients are more prone to fall asleep when they listen to sessions at home, especially when they tend to listen to it in bed at a time they usually sleep. I always recommend sitting in a comfortable position without lying down completely. If you can, listen to it at least an hour after waking or at least 2 hours before bed time if you are worried that you might fall asleep. If you should fall asleep when doing an in-person session, I will lightly touch your arm at the end of the session. If you open your eyes at the end when prompted, that wasn't sleep but only a deep trance state.
Stage hypnosis vs Hypnotherapy
Many people liken hypnotherapy with stage hypnosis. Stage hypnosis is for entertainment purposes only. There are many theories surrounding why people act the way the hypnotist suggests, however hypnotherapy is goal directed with a healing intention.
Will I be able to be hypnotized?
Hypnosis is just a deep level of relaxation. You do not have to be in a deep trance state for it to be effective. I always recommend at least two sessions as I have found that most clients enjoy their second session more because you feel more comfortable with the process and me as your guide allowing you to relax more by the second session
What is regression?
Regression is used when a problem cannot be resolved using suggestion therapy. The hypnotherapist takes the client to the origin of the problem, which is usually a memory or a time where that emotion was trapped. I suggest that in all circumstances, unless you have done hypnotherapy with me before, that the first session is a suggestion therapy and the second session a regression therapy session. When doing a regression, the client needs to trust me and the process fully. There is no guarantee that a specific memory will be accessed, however, I may decide to use other techniques so that healing can still take place..
How many sessions will I need?
In most circumstances I highly recommend at least two sessions to start off with. In some cases you may need more. Healing takes time. If you go to a GP for a an infection, it takes time for the medication to work and heal the infection. Sometimes, you need stronger antibiotics, or more antibiotics more often for it to clear up. Healing takes patience and time but if you are willing to take the journey on self-discovery and release, hypnotherapy will definitely work for you.
Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy - Hypnosis is a natural,
relaxed state of inner-focused attention where your conscious mind relaxes and
your subconscious/unconscious mind becomes open to positive suggestions. Hypnosis
is not a state of sleep, but is a natural state of mind that can produce
extraordinary levels of relaxation of mind, body and emotions. Deep relaxation
is common. During hypnosis, you will remain in complete control and aware of
everything that is going on. You will not reveal anything that you do no wish
to reveal to the hypnotherapist. Hypnosis is safe and you can open your eyes at
any time, although it is recommended that you continue with the therapy session
for best results. The therapeutic use of hypnosis (hypnotherapy) can provide
opportunity for emotional release and relearning. The hypnotherapy process
utilizes interviews, hypnotic methods, and discussion.
Guided Imagery - Guided Imagery is directed
imagination. Guided imagery uses the imagination in a focused, directed way for
a specific outcome (using your senses: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling,
tasting). This can include, but is not limited to relaxation, emotional
understanding and release. However, there is no right or wrong way to do this
and you will be guided by the hypnotherapist. It is natural to achieve
different levels of trance in each hypnosis session. This will depend on, how
tired you are, how stressed you are and the time of day. You do not have to
achieve a “deep” level of trance for your hypnosis session to be
effective.
The day of your appointment – To ensure that you get
the best out of your hypnotherapy session, please do not use excess caffeine
the day of your appointment and refrain from using alcohol or any other elicit
drugs. All prescribed medications can be taken as normal. Please inform the
hypnotherapist if you think this may affect your session.
Medical or Other Conditions -Please let me know of
any medical conditions. Certain conditions and medications might have a
contraindication for hypnotherapy. If you are uncertain, please consult with
your physician or qualified health care provider first. In certain instances,
clearance from your doctor will be requested before your hypnotherapy session.
Audio Recording – Your session will be recorded, and
it will be sent to you via email or Whatsapp after your session. This is for
you to listen to between sessions. Please take the time to listen to your
sessions as often as possible for reinforcement of your session. This recording
is specific to you and should not be shared with others. This recording is not
for public consumption and should not be copied, shared, distributed, sold or
posted online or disseminated in any way. Do not listen to this recording when
you are driving or doing something that needs your conscious attention. Listen
to it in a comfortable position where you can feel most relaxed and comfortable
without interruption.
There is no promise or guarantee made for specific results
or outcomes. However, guided imagery, hypnosis and hypnotherapy can help you
explore and resolve issues that may be bothering you. And your motivation and
participation contribute greatly to achieving your desired outcome.
Online sessions are offered for those unable to attend in
person or if you prefer this to an in-person session. Online sessions are pre-recorded sessions. These sessions are just as effective as an in-person session and you do not lose the value or effectiveness of the hypnotherapy. All sessions, whether in-person or online is created for each person's individual need.
Please note that individual results can vary and refunds for sessions already attended will NOT be actioned under any circumstances
.
